Allegedly, after holding Paul McCartney's left-handed bass guitar, Peter Schottleutner said, "my hands and my mind are tingling right now." This is the sensation I have after listening to Peter play and sing.
It's also the sensation I had after he pulled a knife on me.
If you have traveled to China with him, or recorded sea-shanties with him, or sat in silence listening to a Miles Davis record from beginning to end with him, or read poetry aloud with him, or vamped on a Christopher Walken comedy sketch with him, or performed in a barber shop quartet with him, or spent an hour in a low-rent Nashville music shop with him, or busked in Boulder with him, or sang in church out of a hymnal with him, then you've had the sensation too.
Following his 2007 release of On the Edge of the World, Schottleutner—alias Schottsy—assembled his most trusted confidants to form Schottsy and the Sharpshooters. In 2011 they recorded Looking for a Name in the living room of a decaying urban mansion in Spartanburg, SC. In addition to his own albums, Schottsy has contributed to a dozen other projects with musicians in Nashville, Charleston, Birmingham, and Denver.
He currently lives in Spartanburg, SC with his wife Jen and his son Wolfie.
